Who is the course designed for?
This qualification is designed to provide the knowledge, understanding, skills and comprehension for those individuals who wish to teach physical intervention training skills.
The course covers the knowledge, understanding, skills and comprehension required to plan, deliver, assess and evaluate learner’s physical intervention skills to a competent standard.
Course syllabus
Assess the training environment to reduce risks in preparation for physical intervention
Safely and effectively manage the learning environment for physical intervention skills
Be able to deliver instruction in physical intervention skills
Be able to assess physical intervention skills
Understand physical interventions and the implications of their use
Understand the risks associated with using physical intervention
Understand how to reduce the risks associated with physical behaviour
Be able to use physical skills to protect yourself and others
Be able to use non-pain compliant standing, holding and escorting techniques

Trainers Combined Refresher Course - Physical Intervention and Handcuff Training
Already qualified trainers who need to requalify to teach physical intervention and handcuffing skills. You should already hold an in-date licence to practice (ie; certificate) to deliver both courses. For those trainers with either of these qualifications through a different awarding organisation we can map across your current qualification.
