This restraint training course is designed to complement the knowledge, understanding and skills learnt during Physical Skills or Upskilling for Door Supervisor’s Training. 

Who is the course designed for?

To support individuals who work in known high-risk areas which need to be managed. The course meets the requirements of staff working in the Private Security Industry (ie; SIA), NHS, Education, Retail, Mental Health, Care Homes, Enforcement, Bailiffs, and Security).

Course syllabus:

  • Refresh and confirm knowledge of good communication skills
  • Understand the law in relation to the ‘Use of Force’
  • Understand the terms necessary, proportionate and reasonable
  • Understand the use of personal space, posture and positioning
  • Respond appropriately and lawfully to grabs and other physical provocation
  • Take reasonable action when disengaging or escaping from an aggressor
  • Demonstrate physical intervention techniques
  • Learn appropriate aftercare measures and reporting of incidents procedures

What are the benefits of this course?  

You will be accredited in the use of advanced techniques, which are a supportive requirement for people who need to ‘detain’ violent and aggressive people. The skills and techniques taught are complementary to the use of handcuffing techniques. All techniques taught on this course have been medically risk assessed to the standards set by the Institute of Conflict Management and the Home Office.

Delivery, Assessment and Certification

  • Formal presentation, discussion, group work and practical exercises.
  • Learners knowledge is evidenced by verbal or written questioning.
  • The course is nationally recognised, accredited and certificated.
