Delivery of Conflict Management Training

Course overview

Individuals who wish to Deliver Conflict Management training to staff who have to deal with Difficult and Challenging Behaviours in the workplace or when lone working remotely in the community. Entry onto the course requires the evidence of a recognised teaching qualification. 

Course content

The course will cover:   
• The course consists of pre-read materials and assignments that have to be completed prior to attendance on the course.
• Classroom based learning; theory and practice followed by a micro teach assessment:
• There are two units for this qualification:
Unit 1 – Knowledge, Understanding and Application of the principles of Conflict Management
The aim of this unit is to provide the basic understanding to deal effectively with workplace violence
Unit 2 – Designing and Delivering Conflict Management Scenario’s
The aim of this unit is to provide basic competence to deliver scenario based Conflict Management training

Delivery of Physical Intervention Training

Course overview

To support trainers who wish to teach the use of Physical Intervention and control and restraint techniques to staff working in known high-risk areas. Entry requirements onto the course includes evidence of a recognised teaching and conflict management trainers qualification.

Course content
 
The course will cover:
• Refresher Conflict Management training – from a Level 3 perspective 
• Dealing with anatomical variances
• The law relating to the use of reasonable force and self defence
• Disengagement, escorting, guiding and restraint techniques
• Containment skills
• Relocation and extraction techniques
• Aftercare and post incident reporting procedures

Delivery of Handcuff Training

Course overview

To support trainers who wish to teach the use of handcuffs to staff working in known high risk areas. to NHS staff or Fixed-rigid or Linked handcuffs to security officers and others. Entry requirements onto the course includes evidence of a recognised teaching, conflict management and physical intervention trainers qualification.

Course content

The course will cover:
• The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible
• The law in relation to using reasonable force and self defence
• Potential medical and legal implications of the techniques
• The value of assessing a situation as a last resort
• Use of physical intervention as a last resort
• Disengagement, escorting and guiding skills and techniques
• Carrying, holding and utilization of handcuffs
• The use of handcuffs on compliant and non-compliant people

Delivery of Limb Restraint Training

Course overview

For qualified trainers who wish to teach the use of Limb (Emergency Response Belt and Fast Straps) Restraint techniques as part of the overall strategy where restrictive interventions or manual restraints possible form part of the overall strategy regarding safety and wellbeing at work.

Course content

The course will cover:
• The requirement to use limb restraints
• The law in relation to using reasonable force and self defence
• Organisational policies and procedures
• Threat assessment (control versus injury)
• Advanced physical intervention / control and restraint techniques
• Deployment of handcuffs on non-compliant persons(?)
• Deployment of limb restraints on non-compliant persons
